Subaru Engines

Intro

Interested in a complete list of Engines from Subaru ? Well, Bantum has compiled one:

Introduction into the list of Subaru Engine Specifications …

Subaru generally uses a four or five character code to identify all of their engines.

  • The first letter is nearly always E - Standing for Engine, though, this only applies for Engines before the introduction of FB Engine series.
  • The second letter is the engine's family.
  • Next come two digits indicating the engine's displacement. (Or possible revisions in engines before 1989)
  • The optional fifth character is an identifier to mark revisions. ( Ex: turbo, DOHC, Fuel Injection, etc. )

Example: EK32 or EJ206

Also for ID purposes, there is usually a part number stamped on the crankcase ( location varies for each type ) …

After each engine type there is a brief description of what it is + vehicle used in …

Note : I've used references from Wikipedia, AUSubaru + others on here to compile the list.
